We began our work with Christi and Bryan when they came to us for save the dates for their fall wedding in Virginia. Because they planned to include several pieces in their set, we needed to come up with a theme that would translate well to multiple designs. Their complete set provides a great example of how each piece of stationery for an event can stand alone as unique and yet remain tied together and elegant as a group. Christi and Bryan knew from the beginning that they wanted to incorporate an autumn theme into their stationery. Using Parklife’s Blossom invitation as an inspiration, we designed a simple leaf motif that is understated with just a hint of whimsy. We used our soft white Somerset paper with espresso ink to complete the subtle yet fun look for their save the date. We then went to work on the other pieces of the set. Christi and Bryan wanted their invitation to continue the theme of the save the date, but with a more formal touch. We decided to pare the leaf motif down, center it at the top of the page, and use the Sloop / Trajan typeface combination that works so well in our Blossom invitation. The thank you notes repeat the larger leaf motif from the save the date, with the smaller one adorning the matching envelope. Bryan’s dad was hosting the reheasal dinner, and the couple thought it would be nice to give this piece a distinctive feel. Christi and Bryan chose our radiant white paper along with apple and black inks, and finished it off with our PS Collection sage envelopes. The result is a pulled-together piece that complements the main set while still standing out on its own. Christi and Brian’s wedding stationery was a fun project to work on and they were great to work with. We hope they had a fantastic time at the big event. Click through the photos to see how their invitations turned out—we think it’s a great model of a themed yet elegant set. |
