Dana and Michael's vision for their invitations began with Parklife’s Antiquity style. This versatile design lends itself well to customizing, a quality which Dana took advantage of in a variety of ways. First, we customized the color combination, opting for Parklife’s Apple ink with a custom-mixed deep charcoal. The combination of the pale, elegant green with the rich gray contrasted nicely; it’s a combination that we’d love to use again. We then paired it with our PS Collection Sage inner envelopes to complete the look. Dana has a background in design, and our second customization stemmed from her own eye for flair. She had a bird motif in mind that we were able to weave into the layout, giving the invitation a distinctive and festive look. We kept the original Antiquity typefaces, Garamond and Dearest script, and in the end produced an invitation that was both simple and unique. After pinning down the invitation details, we moved on to some secondary pieces. For their Chicago wedding, she wanted a way for her out-of-town guests to get a feel for the city and the various locations of wedding events and local attractions. At Parklife, we happen to have a knack for designing easy-to-read yet stylish maps, so we laid one out for Dana and pressed it into the same Somerset soft white paper we used for the invitations. Who says logistics can’t also be lovely? With the first round of printing done, Dana decided that she wanted to do a second run that included menus and placecards. For these we followed the invitation design and colors, as well as several varieties of Garamond type. We also had table number cards flat-printed which Dana then framed and placed on each reception table to create a simple yet striking centerpiece. Working with Dana and Michael was a great experience; we’re sure their wedding was as fun and unique as they are! Take a look at the photos of their pieces—we’re proud of the way the set turned out. |
